Latest school news can be found here. Bursted Wood Primary School is situated in Bexleyheath in the London Borough of Bexley, approximately 30 minutes from Central London. The surrounding area consists of mainly owner-occupied housing containing families of mixed social cirumustances and financial means. The School is two form entry and heavily oversubscribed. Children are drawn from a wide catchment area and the school is very popular. Ofsted reported: 'Bursted Wood provides an outstanding education for all of its pupils. Over the last three years, they have sought, with colleagues in other local schools, to provide an innovatory and exciting approach to their whole school curriculum, to inspire pupils to learn. This method, known as The Creative Learning Journey, is based on an exceptionally well defined, and detailed, analysis of what skills pupils need and how best they can be acquired. There are inspiring displays of pupils' work everywhere in the school. They show just how successful the school is being in their aim to raise fully pupils' achievement in all aspects of their learning' (Ofsted 2008). The school has received many awards including the Inclusion Quality Mark and the Leading Aspect Award. All staff in the school share the vision of an inclusive curriculum and are involved in realising it in day to day practice, and also in developing an International Dimension.
