Vision

At Bursted Wood Primary School, we are dedicated to providing a vibrant and inclusive environment where every student can discover their passions and develop new skills. Our enrichment programme is a cornerstone of our commitment to holistic education, extending learning beyond the classroom walls.

We offer an array of stimulating clubs and activities before, during and after school, designed to enhance the curriculum and foster a lifelong love of learning. Through these valuable opportunities, students broaden their horizons, strengthen their confidence and develop essential life skills.

Through a diverse range of stimulating enrichment opportunities, we actively foster our school values:

  • Collaboration: Working together in sports teams, drama production and music clubs.
  • Aspiration: Reaching for new heights and discovering hidden talents
  • Resilience: Learning from setbacks and persevering in a supportive environment.
  • Empathy: Understanding and supporting team members.

Through this holistic approach, we ensure our pupils are not only academically successful but also confident, capable and curious individuals, fully prepared to thrive.

To shape our enrichment club offerings, we partner with our Pupil Enrichment Team to ensure student voice is at the heart of our decisions. Each potential club is then evaluated against the ten effective characteristics of outdoor learning (outdoor learning refers to experiences beyond the classroom and are suggested by the Outdoor Education Advisers’ Panel OEAP) to guarantee a high-quality, engaging experience:

1 Enjoyment

2 Confidence and character

3 Health and well-being

4 Social and emotional awareness 5 Environmental awareness

6 Activity skills

7 Personal qualities

8 Skills for life

9 Increased motivation and appetite for learning

10 Broadened horizons

We regularly reflect on our offer to ensure that we develop new interests, nurture talent and provide access to a wide range of experiences.
